NEW LL RULE: Residency and School Attendance Eligibility
In an effort to accommodate for Little Leaguers to play with their classmates, and ease the burden on parents and guardians, Little League has amended its residency requirements to allow children to play in the local league whose boundaries where they attend school is located. To verify enrollment, parents will need to bring an official school document, such as a report card or school enrollment form, confirming enrollment in the school for the current academic year, dated before October 1, 2013. Read the full text of the new rule here.
Intermediate Boys Division is a Little League offering at 50/70 distances, and played on Moshier Field. Boys 11-13 can play double-headers for this weekends-only travel team and still play on a team in another division (Majors, Juniors). This is a great chance for some extra game time and practice at a medium distance before jumping up to the bigger fields.
Big League Boys (ages 16-18) will be doing something different this year. In an effort to give all kids the opportunity to play baseball, this division will be pooled district-wide and centered out of Wappingers, playing night games and with and against kids from all across the district.

When you sign your child up for Little League®, you’re also signing up for a season of working with your community to support the league, the team and your Little Leaguer®. For 75 years, that Little League community has been based on the boundaries of the local league.
We are excited because for the first time in Little League’s existence, there are now two options for where your children can play Little League. As always, they can play for the league where your home is located. Or, this year, a new rule allows your children to play for the league where their school is located. In a changing educational landscape, this new rule gives parents the option to register their children for the Little League that is truly most convenient to the family, and further enhance the role of community with the classmates of your Little Leaguers® and their families.
“With no Little League opportunity within our home area, for the past two years, my wife, Jodi, and I have been seeking waivers for our son Nicholas to play Little League where he went to school,” said Ted Grimbilas, a Little League Dad from Concord, N.H. “The new rule will give our family, and many others, great opportunities to play baseball and softball.”
The entire rule can be read on LittleLeague.org, including what you’ll need to bring to registration, no matter which option you choose. For years, Little League has granted waivers to families to let them play for the league where their schools are located. We are confident this rule will make the Little League experience better for many in the Little League Family.
In order to accommodate the change, Little League has recently adjusted the Regulation II (d) and II (a) form (Click Here) and created an official Little League school enrollment form (Click Here). This form can be utilized by players that attend school within a league's boundary but would prefer not to provide a school performance record or school registration record in order to enroll in a league for participation.
For further clarification on the new residency requirements, please view the video (Click Here).
